Gigabyte announced that their full range of Intel chipset-based X58, P55, H55, H57 as well as current and upcoming AMD 800 chipset series motherboards all allow charging of Apple’s iPad while the iPad is in use (on) or not in use (off). Gigabyte motherboards feature 3x USB power technology which essentially triples the industry standard specified amount of power supplied from their USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports – bumping their USB 2.0 ports from 0.5A to 1.5A and their USB 3.0 ports from 0.9A to 2.7A. In order for users to enable this feature, they need to download and install Gigabyte’s On/Off Charge driver.
